Should I buy Xperia U ,xperia u owner review

Xperia U review

LOOKS its has got killer looks not like the dull phones from samsung

there is a lot of buzz about this bottom color changing bar  but believe me it has only one practical use that is it can be used for notication such as a red color for miss call, blue for message ect you know what i mean.
and about replaceable bottom cover NO USE tell me who would want a pink cap on their black phone ?

Display
Type           LED-backlit LCD, capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
Size480 x 854 pixels, 3.5 inches (~280 ppi pixel density)
MultitouchYes, up to 4 fingers
Protection Scratch-resistant glass

It has a very good display ,its actually one of the main reason why you should buy this phone.
its very sharp and good thanks to Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine.
Its also not too large which makes the phone portable and easy to carry.

Sound There is nothing extraordinary in this region , average speakers and average earphone sound quality.
Although many people say that its ringtone is not loud enough. But test shows that it is comparable to other phones out there in the market so worry only when you are a little bit hard of hearing.

Memory
No memory card slot
Only 8 GB inbuilt memory out of which 2 gb for android os , 2 gb for user apps and 4 gb for user contents.

If there is any reason you shouldn't buy this phone is its memory. too less for most of the users although there is a USB OTG (on the go) support which allows you to use a pendrive with phone that is you can connect pendrive to phone so you can access its content like you play songs and videos from pendrive .
Although i have a doubt how practical it is and can it really replace the need of memory card slot .

RAM 512 MB
Its enough for gingerbread  2.3 which is currently installed on phone. but its not enough for future that is Android ICS 4 which is growing very fastly so you can expect the phone to hang up and slow down while multitasking. so we can say its actually not a future proof phone.

Camera
Primary     5 MP  flash
Video quality 720p@30fps
Secondary          Yes, VGA

Camera is not good, you get dull photos, you can get better camera phone at this price. but if you dont take a lot of photos then it shouldn't matter.
the pics look nice only on the phone that too because of the really nice display. when you transfer the pic to computer you see the real quality.
so if you are a casual user who likes to keep the photos only in their phone then ignore what is said above and grab the phone.

OS     Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread), planned upgrade to ICS  v4.0
if you are looking for ics phone then please dont go for it due to its 512 MB ram ICS phone should have atleast 1 GB ram.although gingerbread works really fast due to dual core processor and stable.

CPU     Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9
the processor is good and you are getting a dual core at this price point which is very nice.

GPU     Mali-400MP
if you donot play games or play only light casual games then the gpu will work excellently  for you.

This for all those mobile gamers ,it scored 28 fps on neenamark 2 to be precise ( 23.80(min) 28.04(avg) 40.30(max) ) so dont think that its the same Mali 400 gpu as in the Samsung Galaxy S2 which scored around 50 fps although there are other factors involved like screen size and cpu while playing games.
you will able to play most( by most i mean 90% ) of the 3D games without any hastle and lag.
But the real point is the value for money, you are getting a nice gpu for what you are paying and i think you should go for it .

Battery life is average and would last for about a day with normal usage.
good thing about this phone is that it has replacable battery so you can buy an extra battery for use so battery life is not that big problem.

FINAL VERDICT
If you can compromise with the memory then go for it you would never find any better phone than this.
